Our Mission StatementThe mission of St. Barnabas' Episcopal Church, a parish for all people, is to extend God's gracious love and hospitality to each other and to the community by providing worship that inspires, opportunities for service and growth on life's journey, and a sacred place in the heart of Florissant where people can find wholeness and peace.
About UsSt. Barnabas' Episcopal Church, a parish in the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri, began as a mission church in 1957 and was admitted as a new parish into the Diocese in 1972 by the 132nd Convention. Ground was broken in 1959 to erect the church building and a new parish hall was built in 1992. The St. Barnabas community has approximately 100 members of all ages who consistently demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility to their church, to their families, and to each other. We are blessed by a group of parishioners who provide important leadership as we continue the mission of the Church - that is, preaching and hearing the Good News of Christ; celebrating the Eucharist, Holy Baptism and the other sacraments of the Church; providing educational opportunities to learn about God; and, caring for one another in the fellowship of a Christian community and for those outside the community. Many parishioners enjoy each other's company both within and outside the church setting and are very supportive of one another in time of need. The Rt. Rev. Deon K. Johnson is the Bishop of the Diocese of Missouri. After an eventful year under the guidance of priest-in-charge The Rev. Michael Dunnington, St. Barnabas' parish welcomes our new priest, The Rev. Mary Haggerty, who began her ministry here on July 15th with her first service appearing online on the 19th. She was ordained at St. Barnabas' on July 11th and her delayed Celebration of a New Ministry was on October 3rd. We are looking forward now to new challenges and new growth in the years ahead under her guidance. You are cordially invited to participate in worship and share in the parish life of St. Barnabas' Episcopal Church. We hope you will find here an opportunity to grow in the knowledge and love of God, to worship Him joyfully, to serve him as your Lord, and to form new friendships.
